Kathi Soria, beloved mentor, mother, wife, grandmother/great-grandmother. She was the heart and soul behind the creation of Ballet Folklorico Esperanza. Through her passion, dedication, and unwavering belief in the power of culture, she built more than a dance group, she created a community, a family, and a safe space where generations of youth could connect to their heritage with pride and purpose.

Her love for Mexican folklorico dance was evident in every step, every rehearsal, and every performance. Kathi poured her spirit into honoring not only the beauty of the dance, but also the history, traditions, and cultural roots behind it. She believed deeply in uplifting young people and giving them a sense of identity, belonging, and hope.

Kathi’s legacy lives on in every BFE dancer who steps onto the stage, every skirt that twirls, and every heart that beats with pride. Her impact reaches far beyond choreography, she helped shape lives, instilled values, and preserved traditions that will continue to be honored for generations to come.

Her spirit will forever guide Ballet Folklorico Esperanza and all those who had the honor of knowing her. We dance in her memory. Thank you to the Soria Family and our community for your support throughout the years.
